BEFED is the perfect combination of good food and fun
Our specialities are our unique and original BEFED cockerel and artisan beer, distinctive characteristics that are gaining popularity throughout Italy and abroad.
However, the one aspect that, above all, makes every BEFED pub so unique is the friendly, informal and inclusive atmosphere.
Our cockerel is to be eaten exclusively with the hands; don’t ask for a knife and fork because they are banned. At the entrance is a pot brimming with peanuts to welcome you...
What do you do with the shells? Throw them on the floor! In the evenings, music is provided by Radio BEFED.

The head BEFED master brewer
The head BEFED master brewer is Daniele. Originally we made real ale; unpasteurised, unfiltered and bottom-fermented. The first beers were La Bionda (lager) and La Rossa (red ale), which were joined by a third type, La Speciale.
The name is spelled BEFED and is pronounced BEFED
The spelling and the pronunciation of BEFED are the same, because the name is an acronym of the founders; Bruno, Elio, Franco e (and) Daniele!

Our history
Catering has always been both our profession and our passion. Four partners, four friends who spent countless evenings together, with good food, excellent company and lots of fun, began to imagine a place where they could feel good and relax.
“We wanted to let everyone enjoy this experience every evening, a moment of relaxation, sharing the values and passions that unite us. We imagined this place to be unique, friendly, offering genuine and original food with an unmistakable flavour. We added our craft beer, our cockerel to eat strictly with your hands, and plenty of good music from Radio BEFED, our radio. This is how the magic and spirit of BEFED was born”.

1996
The first pub opens
The first venue opened on 6 April 1996 in Aviano as a brew pub with its own microbrewery. At the time, it was one of only 6 in Italy. It was an immediate success; patrons appreciated the innovative and fast single-dish formula, liked the venue, which was informal but furnished with care, enjoyed the home-brewed craft beer and the free peanuts - with the empty shells thrown on the floor -, but above all they loved the cockerel.
1998
The first BEFED logo
The first BEFeD logo was registered. The logo originally depicted the word BEFeD inside an octagon, with the hop plant representing beer.
2000
The second pub opens
After the success of Aviano, BEFeD opens its doors in San Lorenzo di Fiumicello: same formula, single dish, craft beer, peanuts and above all barbecued rooster

The third pub in Lignano!
Due to the success of the first two pubs, a third brew pub was opened in 2002 in Lignano Sabbiadoro (UD)

Rocco gAllocco
Andrea Tamburini created Rocco gAllocco. Rocco is a cartoon rooster. He is a character that expresses and encourages positive behaviour. His various depictions transmit a sense of experience, kindness, friendship, happiness, friendliness, levity and above all sincerity, decisiveness and expertise.

BEFeD goes viral
The first BEFeD website goes online; befed.it
2006
Restyling for the website
May 2006 sees a new look for the website; the BEFeD mascot is the main feature of the new graphic look.
2010
- BEFeD Franchising is launched
Thanks to the success of the BEFED formula, in March 2010, Franchising was born, which led to constant expansion and the affiliation of new partners into the business;
2011
Radio BEFeD goes on-air
Following a careful process of planning and study, and the choosing of the best cutting-edge web-radio technology, Radio BEFeD was launched in celebration of the company’s fifteenth anniversary; as unique as the BEFeD cockerel, beer and BEFeD sauce. An asset for BEFeD, a company that has adopted originality, tradition and innovation as its distinct characteristics.

BEFeD has a brewery
In light of the development of the pubs, the decision was taken to transfer the entire beer production to a brewery located in Leinì, in the province of Turin. The location was chosen for the quality of the water used for production, which was suitable for the various types of beer offered, as well as for the strategic position in terms of logistics, as it was close to all the main motorway routes.

Radio BEFeD is always with you!
In the space of just 18 months, Radio BEFeD had two different channels. The first is BEFeD One, a free-listening, streaming web radio, which can still be accessed via the official website. The second, Plus, is an In Store radio channel; the first fully self-produced and managed radio station, run by a private Italian company, and dedicated to Italian venues and their clientele.

A new logo for BEFeD
After 15 years, the brand was renewed. This new logo was designed by Franco, one of the founding partners. The stylised figure of the cockerel was highlighted, while the hops and the octagonal frame were removed.

The first BEFeD app
The first BEDeD app was launched; free of charge and content-rich, and available for iOS and Android. It offers the entire world of BEFeD; the nearest pubs, music from Radio BEFeD, news and lots of extra content.

The website changes look
The BEFeD website changes graphics, weaving a common thread with the visual elements that characterised the first distinctive graphic elements of BEFeD communication, such as the mascot Rocco gAllocco.
2015
Bollicine Italiane
“Bollicine Italiane”, a special BEFeD selection of sparkling wines, was launched. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, BEFeD presented “Bollicine Italiane”, an exclusive BEFeD selection of sparkling wines for a full range of holidays, anniversaries and celebrations... with BEFeD.
2016
20 years of success
On 6 April 2016, BEFeD, an all-Italian story, celebrated its 20th anniversary with the introduction of a number of important innovations; a new format, known as the Small & Take Away Formula, and the BEFeD Food Truck. This important anniversary also saw a new graphic look for the befed.it website; a restyling that celebrated the company’s history, confirmed its present and looked to the future, all characterised by the pleasure of good company.

Logo restyling
The logo designed in 2013 underwent two variations; the profile of the cockerel turned to the right, and crowns were added to the initials of the four founding partners to underline their bond with the brand.
2019
France, here we come!
The famous cockerel arrived in France. BEFeD opened its first foreign branch in Thonon les Bains.

BEFeD becomes BEFED
The current BEFED brand is created and registered; BEFeD becomes BEFED. The aim of this logo was to rejuvenate and refresh the brand, rendering it more immediate and easy to recognise and remember. All digital and in-house communication adopted this new style. In addition, from befed.it we move to befedpub.com to emphasise the nature of the brand: beer and the Galletto... in the name of well-being together.
2020
the registered headquarters
the registered headquarters of BEFED Franchising moved from Aviano to Bergamo, where the operational headquarters had been for some time. The logistics centre remained in Fontanafredda (PN).

BEFED goes green
BEFED chose to adopt a more sustainable policy. Place mats and coasters made with sustainable materials and suitable for food use, printed with dedicated inks, were introduced to all the venues. In terms of packaging used, as well as the 100% recyclable cardboard material for take-away, the decision was taken, for all pubs without service, to switch to compostable material for all consumables (cups, cutlery, etc.).
2021
A quarter of a century for BEFED
BEFED celebrated its first 25 years, and the “25 BEFED” beer was produced to mark this important milestone.

A new look for BEFED
On the strength of its roots and its identity, BEFED underwent a rebranding process that redefined the brand identity with the final goal of playing an ever-increasingly lead role in its reference market and becoming a “top of mind” brand.
